Did you know that Winston Churchill wrote an alternate American history as if the Confederacy had won the Battle of Gettysburg and the Civil War?
Well, that would have fucked things up.
In the book, the British swoop in to act as the middleman between the independent Confederate States of America and the United States of America. Churchill predicts that eventually the North, South and the British Empire would unite as the “English Speaking Association,” which would prevent World War I.
