superlative comedy
J.D. Salinger’s unpublished story “The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls” discusses the death of Holden Caulfield’s brother who later becomes Allie in The Catcher in the Rye.
Unfortunately for all of us, it’s only available at the Princeton Library after you check in with two forms of ID and agree to be supervised while you read the story behind the doors of a special reading room. No pens or pencils can enter the room. It hasn’t even been leaked on the internet. I looked.
.
The story cannot be released in print until 50 years after Salinger’s death.
